CODE OF CONDUCT
At Vipers Basketball Club, we are committed to fostering a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for all players, coaches, officials, parents, and supporters. This Code of Conduct reflects the values of the our Leagues and adheres to the standards set forth by Basketball England.
✅ GENERAL PRINCIPLES
All members of Vipers Basketball Club are expected to:

Promote the spirit of the game through fair play, teamwork, and respect.

Treat everyone equally, regardless of age, gender, race, ability, or background.

Respect the rules of the game, officials’ decisions, and all participants.

Represent the club positively at all times, on and off the court.
👕 PLAYERS' CODE
Players must:

Show respect to teammates, opponents, coaches, and officials at all times.

Attend training and games on time, ready to give their best effort.
-
Accept success and defeat graciously.

Refrain from abusive language, bullying, or aggressive behaviour.
-
Wear appropriate kit and maintain good personal discipline.

Report any issues of concern to a coach or club official.
🎓 COACHES' CODE
Coaches must:

Place player welfare and development above winning.
-
Lead by example, demonstrating respect, integrity, and professionalism.

Create a positive, inclusive learning environment for all.

Maintain appropriate relationships with players and parents.
-
Adhere to safeguarding procedures as per Basketball England’s guidance.

Promote the values and rules of the game as set out by the league and national body.
👨👩👧👦 PARENTS & SUPPORTERS’ CODE
Parents and supporters should:

Encourage fair play and support all players, not just their own child.
-
Respect referees, coaches, and officials – let them do their jobs.

Never use abusive language or gestures during games.
-
Help create a fun, safe atmosphere for young people to enjoy basketball.

Communicate concerns respectfully through the proper club channels.
🏀 MATCH OFFICIALS & VOLUNTEERS
All volunteers and officials must:

Act with integrity and impartiality at all times.

Prioritise player safety and wellbeing.
-
Be role models of good behaviour and sportsmanship.

Be familiar with the codes and expectations of Basketball England and all Leagues.
⚠️ BREACHES & CONSEQUENCES
Failure to follow this Code of Conduct may result in:

Verbal or written warnings

Suspension from club activities
-
Referral to Basketball England for further action
All disciplinary matters will be handled fairly, in accordance with the Vipers Club Constitution and Basketball England regulations.
